Corns

Looking to treat Corns? Let Sole Podiatry help!

Corns, similar to calluses, are a localised build up of hard skin, usually in relation to excessive pressure or friction. With feet enduring 6-8 times a person’s body weight with each step it’s no surprise corns commonly occur on feet. Corns can often cause pain and discomfort. This condition is very easily treated by a podiatrist.

How we treat Corns:

Removal of the corn is simple, with debridement of the corn and surrounding hard skin, done quickly and safely with a sterile blade. Corn removal does not hurt, as the hardened skin tissue has no sensation. Sometimes changes to footwear may be required to prevent a corn from returning, or insoles placed into shoes to re-distribute plantar pressures away from the area where the corn is developing. We do not recommend the use of medicated corn pads as they can cause the surrounding tissue to become aggravated and infected.
